Art Textures for photographs

It is a rainy day today (outside!) so I am playing round in Photoshop with some old photos. (inside!)

I have seen this technique used very beautifully by Jesh De Rox. Mixing textures and patterns with photographs to create an almost paint like effect. Jesh De Rox has his own signatures textures for purchase here. Also Mayang have free collection of textures. (I got the tip for Mayang's website from reading Colleen Donovan's blog.)

You can also make your own by photographing anything with a nice design or pattern or scan them in.

I used the soft toy fur texture from the Mayang website in the above shot.
